Aquamarine consists of the mineral beryl. The name aquamarine comes from the Latin aqua meaning water and marina meaning sea. Aquamarine has a faint blue to blue or blue-green color, which has given the association to sea water.
Aquamarine is associated with calm, clarity and harmony. As the first of the spring birthstones (March), the ocean blue crystal represents transformation and rebirth. It embodies youthful vitality, purity, loyalty, hope and truth. The sea blue aquamarine is said to have all the healing properties of the sea.
